Publication policies

Peer Review Process

The Editorial Committee of Política. Revista de Ciencia Política receives original works in Spanish, English and Portuguese. They must be submitted to our journal exclusively.

The author must anonymize the manuscript before submitting it. This requirement is indispensable to ensure the anonymous nature of the entire peer review process.

All contributions submitted to Política. Revista de Ciencia Política for review and publication must be sent solely via the journal’s platform. Work sent by email will not be accepted.

All the authors of the manuscript must be identified on submission. Changes cannot be made subsequently.

After receiving the manuscript, the journal’s editorial committee will conduct a preliminary evaluation to determine if the work in question complies with the journal’s focus and guidelines.

If the manuscript does not comply with the focus and guidelines, it will be returned to the author.

Articles with a positive preliminary evaluation will follow a double-blind review procedure. Each manuscript will be sent to at least two external reviewers. In this evaluation process the article’s originality, relevance, topical interest and contribution to political science, among other aspects set out in the journal’s evaluation form, will be considered.

The review process takes approximately four four. The result is communicated directly to the authors. The article may be accepted without change, accepted but with modifications, or rejected. The average time between article submission and publication is 25 weeks.

If the reviewers differ in their evaluation, the committee may call on a third external reviewer to decide if the manuscript is publishable or not.

If the article is accepted, it will be published in one of the two subsequent issues.

Acceptance and subsequent publication of a work implies that the authors assign rights of the work’s reproduction to Revista Política. For publication elsewhere, in another language or on a different platform, permission must be sought from the journal editors.

Publication Frequency

Revista Política is published bi-annually, in July and December of each year.

Self-Archive Policy

Authors can share their works published in Política. Revista de Ciencia Polític on their personal website, institutional database or on networks of interest to them. The DOI of the article as well as its URL assigned by the journal must be provided.
