Abstract

We will start from the hypothesis that democracy has functioned more as a myth (that which maintains the unity of a community and gives identity) in the West than as a de facto practice (the power of the people). In this way we could not speak of a democracy in crisis, but of a democracy to be configured in the here and now, recalling Bourdieu’s structuring structures. Recognizing this, we are faced with the possibility of trying to make it real, or of assuming the incompetence of a society doomed to the demagogic manipulation of democracy and the perpetual mold of the act of voting.
