Abstract

The present dossier, titled "Ethnography and Fashion in the Atacama Desert," represents a valuable compilation of diverse works, all integrated within the framework of the Design and Dress Forms Project in the Atacama Desert. The main focus of this compilation is directed toward the multiple manifestations of clothing throughout the 20th century. Within its pages, we delve into the intricate processes of individuation and contemporary social fragmentation, which facilitate the creation of an industrial world filled with both benefits and destruction. This dossier unfolds ethnography not only as a method but also as an episteme and profession that accounts for diverse social dynamics regarding visual identity and the transformative power of clothing.
